The great surge of young Cambodians towards a once-unobtainable middle class status has been accompanied by an explosion of popular music on television, radio and online as well as by a film industry that eclipses the productivity in the 1960s that flickered out under Pol Pot.

In this section of this blog I collect stories and facts about the movies and music in modern Cambodia. These media hold up an interesting mirror to the changing society and represent a modern battleground between our global culture and Cambodia’s distinct cultural voice.
